Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention. President Barack Obama was seen sporting– get ready– an iPad. Why the sudden shift for this famous Blackberry lover? The answer is simple- Apple can keep their consumers happy with constant upgrades to their products.
Large-scale contracts with companies such as Microsoft seem to be deals of the past for those wishing to keep up with the changing marketplace. The demand is just too strong for newer technology. The solution?
Apple.
At least according to some obscure agencies like NASA, the Army and the State Department.
It’s been reported that Congress has even been allowing iPads and iPhones on the House floor. Talk about technology invading our life- apparently our government officials are incapable of determining appropriate action on a bill without consulting all their friends on Twitter first.
But in all seriousness, are these devices right for you? The rich and famous are using iOS devices, but are they right for the CFO or CRE Exec, whose demands for updated technology are just as important? Many would argue yes.
Apple offers a plethora of applications that blow Blackberry’s limited capabilities out of the water (Just check out my article on the top 5 business apps!). These applications are designed specifically for the business person who thrives on discovering new and more efficient ways of running their company. So far, iPad is superior in the tablet department, but Android offers comparably great features and apps for its smartphones, just on a smaller screen.
Does this mean you should ditch your company’s outdated BlackBerry and purchase your own smartphone and iPad? Recent studies show many employees are doing this.
My advice is to hold out a bit longer before you shell out the extra bucks- Companies will realize that there are better ways of managing their business, and newer technology is the way to do this.
But showing them the way with your own iOS or Android device might jump start the process.
Your call.
