NY Property Tax Cap?

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is backing the Assembly’s plan to place a mandatory 2 percent ceiling on property tax in New York and has made passing a property tax cap his number one priority before the ending of the legislative session on June 20.  The cap is geared towards areas like Long Island, Westchester County, and upstate New York, where soaring property tax increases are forcing residents out of their homes.  Education advocates are not in favor, with the argument that a property tax cap would diminish NY public schooling.  Read more at The New York Times
